Jane Austen Tours

Welcome to the World of Jane Austen!

Join us as we follow in the footsteps of one of the world’s most beloved writers. Explore the life and times of Jane Austen, places where she lived or visited, areas of inspiration for her novels and treasure houses used as film sites of her works. It is all here waiting for you to enjoy, come and explore some of the best regions of the UK, “Jane Austen’s England.”

Literary tourism is not a new phenomenon, Sir Walter Scott’s Lady of the Lake spurred thousands to flock to The Trossachs, the Scottish Lake district, in the early 1800s. Today, savvy travelers continue to seek more in-depth experiences although now they don’t have to figure it out for themselves. Special Group Tours is a small group tour company that serves independent minded people who prefer not to drive themselves in the UK and Ireland. Literary Heritage tours are regional sightseeing tours with an added layer incorporating where popular authors lived, worked and were inspired. It’s quite an experience to stand in a place described in a beloved novel, images leaping from the page!

Here we focus on our most popular literary figure, JANE AUSTEN. Below are our SCHEDULED TOUR DEPARTURES…

We also offer a custom designed tour service for private/custom departures. Use our scheduled itineraries as a template or do your own thing – on a custom tour, you ask for it and we provide! Ask us for a rate quote…individuals, couples, book clubs, hobby clubs, schools, alumni, groups of any kind, any size from 2 guests and up. All Welcome!

Special Group Tours

Jane Austen Tours is the ‘literary heritage’ segment of Special Group Tours, specialists in small group special interest tours of UK & Western Europe.

Small Group Touring is traveling with just 6 – 14 guests per departure. It is our aim to introduce you to the ‘real’ country and its people, not just ticking the boxes of a standardized route and treating you as an individual and not a number. On a small group tour, there’s the flexibility to get off the beaten track and have a very personal experience, really exploring the areas visited. ‘SGT’ strives to provide guests a nice balance between the benefits of going with a local guide and the pleasure of maintaining independence. Read More
